Dr.
Samuel Metters re-appointed to Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs
McLean, VA - August 24, 2005 - Veterans who own small businesses
will make up the majority of a 15-member Advisory Committee on
Veterans Business Affairs established to provide an independent
source of advice and policy recommendations to the U.S. Small
Business Administration (SBA), Congress, the President and other
policy makers. Dr. Samuel Metters, President and CEO of Metters
Industries, was re-appointed to the Committee today for a four year
term by SBA Administrator Hector V. Barreto. Dr. Metters had
previously served a two year term on the first committee established
in 2003.
The SBA is the only Federal agency created specifically to assist
small business. The SBA’s Advisory Committee for Veterans Business
Affairs plays a unique role in advising the SBA about vital issues
affecting veteran-owned small businesses throughout our country.
Administrator Barreto remarked “The success of SBA’s programs
depends significantly on the contribution of the dedicated business
leaders and concerned citizens who serve on our advisory councils.”
The mission of the Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs,
as set by Public Law 106-50, and Public Law 108-183, Service
Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB) Set-aside Program, is to
review, coordinate and monitor plans and programs that affect the
ability of small businesses owned and controlled by veterans to
obtain capital, credit and access to markets.
Founded in 1981, Metters Industries, Inc. is a leading research,
engineering, and services company that provides innovative support
services to many government agencies and commercial customers.
Metters serves customers across the United States in the areas of
information technology, engineering and technical services, and
