Metters Industries, Inc. receives Small
Disadvantaged Business (SDB) recertification from the Small Business
Administration
McLean, VA - February 3, 2004 - Metters Industries, Inc. received
formal recertification as a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) under
the US Small Business Administration (SBA) guidelines. This
certification is valid until February 2, 2007. Metters was added to
the SBA’s list of certified SDBs found in PRO-Net, the SBA’s online
registry at
http://pro-net.sba.gov.
The SDB program is provided under Title 13 of the Code of Federal
Regulations. Under the government’s reformed affirmative action
rules, small disadvantaged businesses are eligible for price
evaluation adjustments of up to 10 percent when bidding on federal
contracts in certain industries. The program also provides
evaluation credits for prime contractors who achieve SDB
subcontracting targets. The program is intended to help federal
agencies achieve the government-wide goal of 5 percent SDB
participation in prime contracting. In addition, effective January
1, 1999, negotiated contracts where SDB participation is an
evaluation factor can provide monetary incentives for prime
contractors that meet specified targets for SDB subcontracting in
the Standard Industrial Code (SIC) major groups.
