Metters Industries was recognized by the STRICOM Contracting Office as a selected small business supplier for the STRICOM Omnibus Contract (STOC) acquisitions.

NASA UNITeS: Employee of the year.

STRICOM Contracting Office (Kim Denver): Recognition as a selected small business supplier for PEO STRI Omnibus Contract (STOC) acquisitions.

National Quality Assurance, USA: ISO 9001-2000 Registration for Metters Industries Quality Management System.

Sanford Airport Authority, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting: Letter of appreciation for volunteering Metters Industries employees giving assistance to Seminole County Fire Training Group training equipment projects.

Orange County School Board: Recognition of Contribution to Orange County Public Schools. this award recognizes the support we have provided to a neighborhood elementary school in Orlando, Florida.

L-3 Communications, Supply Chain Manager provided Metters with a congratulatory letter for a perfect supplier score of 100% for all programs from January to June 2002.

Previously, Metters was ranked for the fourth consecutive year (1990-1993) by Inc. Magazine, as one of the 500 fastest growing privately held companies in the United States. Our first year on the Inc. 500 List was based on sales from $447,000 in 1985 to $10,072 million in 1989 - a phenomenal growth rate of 2,150 percent.

Metters was also named in the Washington Technology Journal in 1992 and 1993 as one of the 50 fastest growing companies in the Washington DC area. This represents two consecutive years on the Fast 50 List.

Dr. Metters was selected as the SBA's "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 1990. He was a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year in 1991 and 1992 in a national competition sponsored by Ernest & Young, Merrill Lynch, Inc. Magazine, and Washington Business Journal.

Received Howard University’s recognition of ‘50 Most Important Black Owned Companies in America.’

Recipient of an award for Excellence and Leadership at the Fifty Influential Minorities in Business National Awards Gala (Minority Business and Professionals Network, Inc.).

Profiled in Dr. Rhodes’ and Dr. Freedy’s book as one of four black pioneers in national black businesses.

Former member of the selection committee for the annual US Black Engineer award.

Former member of the George Mason University Engineering Advisory Committee.

Former member of the Board of Directors of the University of Kentucky School of Engineering Advisory Board.

NASA

Awarded the NASA Public Service Medal for his contribution to the Nation’s Space Program.

Awarded the NASA Special Services Award for community services.

Received an appointment to the NASA Advisory Council (NAC). Dr. Metters served two consecutive two-year terms, upon the request of the NASA Administrator.

Dr. Metters is the co-founder of the NASA Career Exploration Program (NCEP), for Junior ROTC Future Astronauts.

Veterans Affairs

Received an appointment by the Honorable Hector V. Barreto, Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration, to a four-year term to the Advisory Committee on Veterans’ Business Affairs.

Appointed by the Governor of Virginia as a Member of the Virginia Board of Veterans’ Services.

Academia

Dr. Metters was the recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Award from his Alma Mater, Prairie View A&M University.

Past President of the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association.

Recipient of the Prairie View A&M University Alumni of the Year award.

Recipient of the Prairie View A&M University commencement speaker citation.

Recipient of the Prairie View A&M University Distinguished Professor for a Day.
